GameToy hardware project

These pages describe a sort of blog-ish time log on my 'GameToy' hardware project (stalled indefinitely).

June 12th, 2006 - hardware

It's taking shape*..

A - The 128x64 graphic LCD unit

B - A tiny pc speaker salvaged from an old PC case

C - LCD contrast control 10kOhm trimmer

D - Another 10kOhm trimmer for audio volume

E - ATmega32 microcontroller, connected to a STK500 board

F - Directional buttons, 4 microswitches

G - A couple of fire buttons, with microswitches again

H - The compulsory blue LED.

Apart from the hardware, also wrote the first version of audio output, which sounds horribe. Most likely something went wrong with the 8-bit conversion of the audio code, but there may also be something wrong with the basic idea of using PWM-with-filtering as a DAC.
